All Things Halloween!
Halloween Activities to do with the Family
- Go to the pumpkin patch!
This is such a must during Halloween season. Give the kids a chance to pick out their very own pumpkins! Whether this be a small one for themselves or a big one to carve, pumpkin picking is such an enjoyable activity for the young ones.
- Paint/carve pumpkins
After the kids have picked out the best pumpkin, now it’s time to decorate! If your kids are too young, have them paint their pumpkins with a variety of fun colors. If not, carving pumpkins is a staple during the fall season. Have the kids pick out the stencil they want to carve and tape it onto the pumpkins for easy carving.
- Roast pumpkin seeds
The same night you decide to carve the pumpkins, make sure to save all those seeds on the side for roasting! Just make sure to thoroughly clean the seed and simply toss them in melted butter and salt. Lasty, just bake in the oven for about 45 minutes or until golden brown! YUM.
- Apple picking at the Apple Orchard
Definitely take the kiddos to your local apple orchard this fall. Not only will you walk away with some of the most delicious apples in town, but they will most likely have apple cider and apple cider donuts to bring home as well.
- Bonfire
Fall is the perfect season for a good old bonfire. Set up a s’mores station for the kids with extra chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers. And since it’s spooky season why not tell some ghost stories while all sitting around the bonfire. Make sure to bring a flashlight for that spooky effect!
- Corn Maze/Hayride
Corn Mazes are such an exciting and mind stimulating activity for your kids to partake in. Hayrides will give your little ones a tour of the whole farm too! If you end up going to the pumpkin patch or apple orchard, most likely a corn maze and a hayride will be available for you. These are both great adventures to take on within one fall afternoon.
- Haunted House
If the kids are old enough and don’t scare too easily, a haunted house would be a great Halloween activity. Whether it is a neighborhood haunted house or a legitimate one this could be a super exciting adventure for a kid who loves Halloween. Make sure to wear your masks because sooner than later you and your kids will be screaming!
- Scary movie marathon!
It is that time of year! Scary movies are an absolute necessity during the Halloween/fall season. After brainstorming some movies, write each of them down and throw into a hat. Have each kid pick a movie and snuggle up close. I would definitely recommend Halloween Town, Coraline, Frankenweenie and Monster House!
- Rake the leaves & jump in them
As a kid, jumping in the crunchy leaves after raking them into a huge pile is an all-time favorite. This is a great activity to do with the whole family too. Raking leaves is also a great activity for your little ones to get all their energy out. Especially when they reward themselves by jumping in the leaf piles after all that hard work raking them up!
- You’ve been BOOED!
This is a Halloween trend that has been around for years. It is essentially secretly gifting your friends and neighbors with some fun treats and goodies. You receive a bag at your front door with a picture of a ghost and a note attached that you have been BOOED! Now you have to return the favor and drop off the note and goodies at someone’s door who hasn’t been BOOED yet. It is a super fun tradition for your kids and their friends to participate in this Halloween season.
Have a Fangtastic Halloween!
